Georges Piaget founded the business in 1874 in the village of La Côte-aux-Fées by. Piaget was a farmer who built pocket watches during the winter for extra money.
For this reason, in 1911, Timothée, the son of Georges, took over the family firm and made the timepiece business a full-time endeavor.
By that time, all watches were built by him for other companies, who placed their name on these timepieces.
The founder’s grandsons, Gérald and Valentin, registered the brand as a trademark in 1943.
Since then, the manufacturer at La Côte-aux-Fées produced only its own creations and the family name became an international brand.

As a matter of fact, the organic, almost psychedelic style that typifies Piaget jewels and watches in the Sixties and Seventies is unparalleled in its creativity and skill.
Furthermore, because of its special jewelry design coupled with its unique use of colorful precious hardstones inspired all stylish women of the time, including Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
