This watch – IWC Aquatimer Automatic Chronograph 44mm Mens Watch IW376805 – devoted to JACQUES-YVES COUSTEAU technically is identical with the Aquatimer Chronograph.
With Jacques Cousteau, IWC Schaffhausen shares not only a technological pioneering spirit and passion for perfection, but also the commitment to an intact environment worth living in.
Thus, the distinctly puristic design of the dial references the look of the first Aquatimer released in 1967 – even with three sub-dials and a date and day display, the blue dial remains remarkably uncluttered.
Moreover, the innovative external/internal rotating bezel with a SafeDive system designed to prevent inadvertent changes of the dive time boosts the practical use of the diver’s watch, as does the increase in water-resistance to 30 bar.
In the mean time, the chronograph function handles single stop times and aggregate timing up to 12 hours, while the push-buttons can be activated even underwater.
Also important for this watch is the engraving on the back of the cover shows “le Commandant” with his trademark woollen beanie.

IWC SAFEDIVE SYSTEM: Uni-Directional Rotating Bezel:
Rotating the external bezel ring counter-clockwise engage the inner bezel. But, rotating the external bezel ring clockwise do not affect the inner bezel. So, it prevents the risk of extending the period of time the diver remains under the water.
This is done via the Sliding Clutch System, which allows the external bezel to interact with the internal bezel ring – all this time maintaining the water resistance integrity of the watch.
The Sliding Clutch System comes fitted with a polished protective cover located on the case edge at 9 o’clock position.
Chronograph/Stopwatch functions:
Large central seconds counter hand with orande skeleton arrow-head tip
30 minute counter sub-dial located at 12 o’clock position
12 hour counter sub-dial located at 6 o’clock position
