ROLEX SKY DWELLER 42mm GMT
ROLEX SKY DWELLER 42mm GMT
Introduced in 2012, Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller comes as one of Rolex’ most complicated watches to date. It features an annual calendar coupled with a second-time-zone function. Former Rolex Sky Dweller model displayed the regular date, while the month displayed through apertures by the hour markers. Of course, because of its caliber 9001 movement, it features an annual calendar and a second time zone, with all functions adjustable through the sophisticated ‘Ring Command’ system.
Nevertheless, the new model indicates the GMT / Dual Time-Zone through an off-centre 24h disc at 6 o’clock. The well-known fluted bezel functions as sort of a gearbox with three positions, enabling the user to set the date, local time and second-time-zone through one single position on the crown.
Thus, the second time zone indicating by an off-centre, rotating 24-hour disk. Moreover, the local time is indicated by the center-mounted hands, which can be adjusted very quickly. Also, this feature is used when someone wants to change the time zones by setting the hour hand forward or backwards in one-hour increments. The minutes, seconds, and second-time-zone indicators are not affected during this operation.
